Natural Acne Treatments
Acne is a burden and something we really don’t need or particularly enjoy, it makes for low self esteem especially when one is in the bloom of youth trying to find your feet. These days a trip to the chemist will leave you confused and often out of more cash
Than you bargained for.
But before you do that consider one thing have you looked at, or tried herbal and natural remedies? if your answer is no than please try this method , this healthier move almost always best ,even though the results may not become apparent as quickly as some methods, in the long run you will feel the benefits
Wash twice a day with acne soap - You should wash your face twice a day with a sulfur based soap designed for the problem. Once when you first wake up in the morning and then, right before you go to bed at night. Be extremely gentle to your skin when washing - do not scrub or use any sort of rough cloth. Overwashing your skin will actually stimulate your sebaceous glands to produce more sebum, thus increasing your problem.
Keep your hair off your face - If you have long hair or bangs, pull your hair off your face. Your hair contains oils as well, and will contribute to your breakouts. You'll also want to wash your hair everyday and after workouts
Take a potent multi-vitamin - pimples can be a sign that something is wrong on the inside. Your skin depends on nutrition. It is a vital organ that is usually neglected. If your body is not receiving the right nutrition, it will fight back. One common way it will rebel is to produce excessive sebum, clogging pores, and reducing the ability for your skin to heal and fight bacteria.
Include chromium in your diet - Chromium is well known for weight loss diets. But it is also excellent for healing infections on the skin. Taking a chromium supplement once a day will help heal your pimples quickly and prevent future breakouts.
Eat carrots for beta-carotene (Vitamin A) - Vitamin A strengthens the protective tissue of the skin and actually prevents infection. It helps reduce sebum production. This vitamin is essential for the maintenance and repair of the tissue which the skin and mucous membranes are made of. Vitamin A is also a powerful antioxidant needed to rid your body of toxins. Did you know that a deficiency in vitamin A can actually cause acne?
Avoid wearing makeup - Leaving makeup products on your skin only contributes to clogging your pores, causing more pimples and blackheads. If you feel you must wear makeup, be sure it is water-based.
Do not pick or squeeze your blackheads and pimples - As tempting as it may be, do not squeeze, scratch, rub or touch your pimples and blackheads. Do any of these actions, actually increases the sebum production. Plus, when you squeeze, you are actually rupturing the membranes below your skin, causing infection and sebum to spread underneath your skin. The result is more pimples.
Eat foods rich in zinc - Zinc is an antibacterial agent and a necessary element in the oil-producing glands of the skin. A diet low in zinc can actually cause acne breakouts.
Drink water-This cleanses your body of toxins taken in and makes you feel healthier.
A Natural Remedy - Tomatoes
Tomatoes are also rich in vitamin C and vitamin A, both of which make tomatoes a good natural acne remedy.
How to Use Tomatoes as a Natural Remedy
There are many ways in which you can use tomatoes as part of your skin treatment.
1) A very simple way is simply to cut a tomato in half and rub the cut side over the affected area. Leave the juice on for a few minutes and rinse off.
2) A more effective method is to make a proper face mask from the tomato. Take a ripe tomato, make a cross in the top and then plunge it into hot water for a few seconds. This will allow you to peel off the skin. Cut the tomato in half, discard the seeds and then mash the remaining pulp and use this as a face mask. Leave on for up to 1 hour before rinsing.
3) If working with the tomato pulp is a little awkward another alternative you can try is to mix together 1 tablespoon of fresh tomato juice with a few drops of lime juice and then apply this to the affected areas using a cotton ball. Again, leave the mixture on for a few minutes before rinsing off with some warm water.
4) Another variation on the tomato face mask is to mix together tomato juice and cucumber juice which has also been proven to be a good natural remedy. In fact when using home made remedies you can often combine them together in a variety of ways.
Finally, pimples can leave the skin feeling very sore so you might like to try this natural acne remedy which also cools and soothes the skin. Pulp the flesh of one tomato as described earlier and then mix this with 2 tablespoons of yoghurt. Spread this over the face and relax for 20 minutes.

Aromatherapy Recipes For Natural Skin Treatment
Through the blending of essentials oils and carriers such as jojoba oil, these recipes exhibit antibacterial and antiseptic properties that help control outbreaks and promote healing.
A few simple precautions need to be observed. Some of these recipes contain certain essential oils that should not be used during pregnancy, such as juniper tree oil and Lebanese cedar oil. Bergamot essential oil should be used only if you can avoid sunlight exposure for at least 12 hours. If you are being treated by a dermatologist, or have anything more than a minor skin condition, you should seek professional advice before using.
Not all essential oils are useful for skin treatment, so we will note a few that are effective.
Some of the recommended essential oils for acne control are Cedarwood, Jasmine, Lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Geranium, Grapefruit, Juniper, Lebanese Cedar, Bergamot and Tea Tree.
Lavender essential oil and Tea Tree seemed to be well tolerated by most users and Tea Tree is one of the best and most popular for natural treatment.
Aromatherapy recipes consist of a mixture of two or more oils that work together to produce the desired results. Here are a few easy recipes that you can make at home.
Mix the following in a small bottle or container:
• 1oz. jojoba oil
• 10 drops of lavender oil
• 7 drops of tea tree oil
• 2 drops of bergamot oil
• 1 drop geranium oil
(To mix without the bergamot oil, simply use 12 drops of lavender oil).
Shake ingredients well and apply to your face, neck or back. Avoid your eyes, nose or the inside of your ears.
Another simple recipe is to mix (2) drops of juniper oil and Lebanese cedar oil in a small amount of water and apply every two hours. One more recipe is, (2) drops of juniper oil in (1) spoonful of jojoba oil, mix and apply to pimples.
For body skin ailments, try adding a few drops these essential oils to a non-perfumed body lotion and apply at bedtime. A guide line for mixing essential oils with a carrier is approximately 2-3%.
As with any body treatment, these too will take time to work. If you have a serious skin condition, please consult with a dermatologist. For allergy prone skin it may be wise to try applying the oils in a small area first.
The information provided here has hopefully opened one more avenue for you as you seek successful treatment. If you have no experience in mixing these oils, you will want to consult the professionals before you begin to make your own aromatherapy recipes. It is important to know how the oils act and will interact with each other.
